About
I am a geologist working in the energy industry on the west coast of Norway. Outside work I like to learn and build things — currently with AI coding tools — and this site is where the finished projects end up.
Background
I finished a master's degree in geology in 2024 and moved straight into full-time work in the energy sector. Right now I mostly do technical work contributing to exploration of oil and gas. However, on the side I want to learn new skills and create different projects, which is most of the reason this site exists: a place to put the things I build on my own time, so they accumulate somewhere other than a folder on my laptop.
What I work on
Right now that means two things. One is a Norwegian-language personal finance course — the material that exists in English for a US audience, rebuilt from scratch for Norwegian tax rules, pension structure and savings products. The other is learning to actually ship software with AI coding tools rather than reading about them. This site was the first thing I built that way.
How I work
I am a person who have several hobbies and many things I want to know and learn. I get my best work done when I can get into deep focus and work on a problem without distractions. However, distrations are everywhere and one of my main issues. My failure mode is researching a problem long past the point where I should have started building — so most of what I do now is designed to force a shipped thing out at the end.
